Ginger Muffins

1/2 cup shortening (crisco etc)
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg
1 cup dark molasses
3 cups flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon ginger
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1 cup hot water
-Blend chortening and sugar
-Beat in egg then molasses
-Mix together dry ingredients and stir into molasses mixture till smooth
-Fill greased muffin pans 2/3 full

-Bake at 375 degrees for 20-25 minutes
