Carmel Walnut Brownies

Ingredients:

  • 1 14 oz pkg carmels
  • 2/3 C evaporated milk divided
  • 1 18.25 oz pkg carmel flavored cake mix
  • 3/4 C butter melted
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 3/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 C walnut halves

Directions:

  • Preheat oven to 350.
  • Unwrap caramels and place in medium saucepan. Add 1/2 C evaporated milk.
  • Cook over low heat until caramels melt. Stirring often.
  • Remove from heat and set aside.
  • Combine remianing 1/3 C evaporated milk, the dry cake mix, and next 3 ingredients.
  • Stir until just blended
  • Spread half of mixture into a lightly greased  9in square pan
  • Chill remianing mix.
  • Bake at 350 for 10 minutes.
  • Cool in pan for 5 minutes.
  • Pour warm caramel mixture onto brownie layer. 
  • Sprinkle with walnuts.
  • Spoon remaning half of cake mixture into pan.
  • Bake at 350 for 25 more minutes.
  • Cool completely in pan.
  • Cover and chill before cutting

Notes:
Devils Food Cake mix may be substituted for caramel cake. Omit the cinnamon and bake for 25 minutes instead of 30.
