Ingredients:
- 5 C flour
- 3 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/3 C sugar
- 2 C buttermilk
- 1/4 C warn water
- 1 pkg dry yeast
- 1 C shortning
- 1/4 butter melted
Directions:
- Dissolve yeast in warm water.
- Put all dry ingredients in large bowl.
- Add shortening and cut by hand
- Mix dissolved yeast with buttermilk and add to dry mix.
- Work the dough on a well floured board until smooth.
- Roll out and cut biscuits.
- Place on a greased cookie sheet.
- Brush tops with melted butter.
- COver and place in freezer.
- Take out desired number and bake at 400 until brown.
Notes:
This recipe makes 40 busicuits. For parties: use same ingredients but double the amount of sugar. Roll dough to 1/4 inch thick and cut.Dip into melted butter and fold in half.place on cookie sheet and bake in same manner.While still hot dust with powered sugar.
