Biscuits

Portion: 12 servings
Ingredients:

  • 5 C flour
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/3 C sugar
  • 2 C buttermilk
  • 1/4 C warn water
  • 1 pkg dry yeast
  • 1 C shortning
  • 1/4 butter melted

Directions:

  • Dissolve yeast in warm water.
  • Put all dry ingredients in large bowl.
  • Add shortening and cut by hand
  • Mix dissolved yeast with buttermilk and add to dry mix.
  • Work the dough on a well floured board until smooth.
  • Roll out and cut biscuits.
  • Place on a greased cookie sheet.
  • Brush tops with melted butter. 
  • COver and place in freezer.
  • Take out desired number and bake at 400 until brown.

Notes:
This recipe makes 40 busicuits. For parties: use same ingredients but double the amount of sugar. Roll dough to 1/4 inch thick and cut.Dip into melted butter and fold in half.place on cookie sheet and bake in same manner.While still hot dust with powered sugar.
