chocolate crackles

Ingredients:
8 ounces semi-sweet chocolate
1 1/4 cups all purpose flour
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp course salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
2 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/3 cup whole milk
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup confectioner\’s sugar
Directions:
melt chocolate in a heatproof bowl set over a pan of simmering water, stirring. set aside, and allow it to cool. sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl and set aside.

mix butter and brown sugar on medium speed until pale and fluffy. mix in eggs and vanilla, and then the melted chocolate. reduce speed to low and mix in flour mixture in two batches alternating with the milk. divide the dough into 4 equal parts. wrap in plastic and refrigerate until firm (about 2 hours).

preheat oven to 350ยบ. divide each piece into 16, 1 inch balls. roll in granulated sugar then in the confectioners\’ sugar to coat. space about 2 inches apart on a baking sheets lined with parchment paper.

bake until surface cracks, about 14 minutes. cool on a wired rack. enjoy!
