Easter Bread

Ingredients:
1 cup milk
1 1/2 cup sugar
1/4 lb butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 eggs
5 cups flour
1 box raisins (optional)
1 tablespoon anise seeds
2 packages yeast
1/2 cup warm (almost hot) water
Directions:
1) malt together 1 cup milk, 1 1/2 cup sugar and 1/4 lb butter, then add 1 teaspoon vanilla.
2) Mix 3 eggs together
3) Put 5 cups flour in bowl, add raisins (1 box), and 1 tablespoon anise seeds.
4) Dissolve 2 packages yeats in 1/2 cup warm (almost hot) water. Stir.
5) Make a well in the bowl.
6) Put in lukewarm milk mixture a little at a time.
7) Stir in yeast mixture, adn eggs. Beat all together, scrape sides of bowl
8) Sprinkle top with flour and make the sign of the cross in flour.
9) Cover with sran wrap and 4-5 towels
10) Put in oven to rise, temp. of oven should be SLIGHTLY warm.
11) Raise 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
12) Knead until "smooth as silk".
13) Cut dough into 6 equal parts, and roll into rope form.
14) Braid into two loaves.
15) Cover with towels and rise until double in size.
16) Can brush with egg white.
17) Bake at 350 until done approx. 30 minutes.
