This is the best apple pie in the world. You can’t go wrong with Bramley cooking apples, delicious blackberries and stem ginger. The cooking time can depend on how freshly picked the apples are, so the best thing is to cook them until they’re softened first. And I don’t know if you’ve noticed this, but blackberries in shops never seem to taste of anything these days unless they’ve just been picked from a local grower – so do try to get fresh ones if you can, or pick your own straight from the bush!
First, make your pastry dough, wrap it in clingfilm and rest it in the fridge for at least half an hour. Then preheat the oven to 180°C/350°F/gas 4. Hi guys,
Just to let all of you know I'm off to the States this week. A show I'm in called The Big Give is airing over there on ABC on March 2nd. The Big Give is a very exciting reality programme. The basic premise of the show is that ten people are given weekly challenges to find out who can give the most. These ten people are all wonderful and have been doing good things for other people in some way, shape or form for years. Every week, in different parts of America, we’ll be watching them get stuck into their challenges.
From small, intimate gestures to large, entrepreneurial ideas these guys achieve some really incredible results. The show celebrates the best of human nature and I'm proud to be a part of it. I’m hoping it will send some ripples of positivity around America. Watch out for me on Oprah as I'll be promoting The Big Give on her show.

Hi Guys,
Last week I had a great time in Miami at the South Beach Food and Wine Festival. The sun was shining, the festival was brilliant and I met loads of inspiring people. I'm now in a wonderful (but chilly) New York, talking to lots of people about Oprah's Big Give and squeezing in some work on my new book. I'll be on The Late Show with David Letterman this week, so keep an eye out for me on that.
After New York I'm off to Chicago where I'll be appearing on the lovely Oprah Winfrey's show again. Oprah's Big Give, the show I took part in earlier this year, debuts in the States this Sunday and we're all really excited about it. I think it's a great show and am hoping it will really make a difference and inspire people around the States. If you live in North America, it premieres on March 2nd 8pm on ABC. Hi lovely people!
Easter is upon us. I know that a lot of you are reading this from all different parts of the world, but for me, here in England, Easter signifies the beginning of spring and new life.
Those of you who have read my book, Jamie at Home, or seen the show may know that we’ve just started sowing our broad beans. Our potatoes and salad crops are just kicking into action too. All of the winter stuff is beginning to come to an end and this new life is coming through. So for me, this is just a wonderful time of the year and there’s a big feeling of optimism. If you don’t have a garden then get down to the markets where you’ll start seeing loads of vibrant, exciting colours and fresh ingredients appearing.
Now you might think I sound a bit pompous here, but chocolate has gotten so bad these days it’s hard to find an Easter egg made with real chocolate. Most eggs are loaded with sugar and have hardly any chocolate in them. Greene and... |
